So our final day in Thailand has arrived. It’s a little sad, but also time for going home and back to reality for awhile, and to earn some money for our next years adventure.
Brendan was on birthday leave today, so no work, and he was good to not check at all, and just enjoy a little sleep in, till 7am anyway when the kids started to ping messages about “we are awake”.
Brendan did a bit of google searching for anything last minute to do before we leave.
D-Sports Stadium
This was recommended on the BKK Kids Top 25 Things To Do With Kids In Bangkok , and something new we had not tried before, so thought to check this out. Ning was heading to finalise her online banking changes, so we left her at the hotel and headed out on our final exploring day.
We opted to take the BTS and then walk from Phrom Phom to the shopping centre that has this. Its a good walk, but was not too hot, and lots to see, so the kids enjoyed the walk.
Was absolutley a great morning and well worth the cheap 560B for the 3 of us for 1.5hour of fun. We did a good walk through first to see what was available to do, and well as what the kids wanted to start on.
Bryce of course wanted to do the climbing first, so Elle took the Easy and Bryce the Medium as they raced each other.
Once was enought for Elle, but Bryce was keen to do the hard one and time himself. He got better each time her did it, and really showing off his upper body strength.
Next was the badminton court for a Brendan vs the kids challenge. Clearly well won by Brendan with 21 to 4…The kids then took on each other also for some fun. Scores are forgotten, but was good fun.
We checked out the table tennis machine also, for some family challenges.
Brendan then had a lot of fun in the batting cages, and even earned a badge for hitting the home run market up on the netting.
Bryce had great delight in wearing this for the rest of the day. None of are very good soccer players, but we did sitll have some fun trying to hit the scores. Brendan got 4, Bryce got 2 and Elle tried hard.
There were free arcade games, as well as some basketball machines, so our 90mins went very fast.
Once we left we walked back down to Ekkami station and past the Sodexo Head Office that Brendan first worked in when coming to Thailand back in 2006.

Central World Bangkok

Ning had let us know she was finished and heading to Central world so we jumped on the BTS and headed there to meet her.
Decision was for Shabushi for lunch, as everyone had skipped breakfast and was feeling hungry by this time.
We then had a good walk around this huge shopping mall and Ning bought some new clothess from UniGlo.
Even after all the walking and playing Brendan and the kids decides to walk back to the hotel, while Ning still nursing some ankle stiffness choose the BTS. Had a good look through Siam Discovery and Paragon on the way, but nothing new.

Was mid afternoon by the time we got back to the hotel, and everyone had an hour of repacking, so we are ready to go home EARLY tomorrow morning. Brendan also did a nice time lapse of the city as it transitions from day to night, and feels like it comes alive with all the lights.

Silom and Soi Convent
We headed onto the BTS to go the few stops to Sala Dang, the station in the heart of Silom, and walked down to Soi Convent for some dinner options. Due to huge new construction on the corner, there was not as many shops there that you can see during the day when there is lots of office and construction people around, but we found a nice Issan restaurant for our final Thai meal.

Final MBK stop

Bryce still needed this Thai boxing shorts and Elle wanted a stand for her phone, so we quickly jumped back on the BTS and headed back to MBK for the final time. Found everything we wanted and have now filled out bags. Still way under the 80kgs we are allowed, could have shoppped more, but for our final shopping this was all we could achive as the MBK was closing around us.
Happy to say my fantastic “wallet” for Thailand has now been retired to the bin with the last few Baht, 50B, enough for a drink at the airport.
