The weather was looking a little ominous after a large rain storm through the night in Buriram, so we didn’t get organised to leave as early this morning, and we all needed a little bit of extra sleep.

Phanom Rung Historical Park

Took about an hour to get here from Buriram, most of it in the heavy rain storm, so we were not sure we were going to get to see much. Was still quite heavy on arrival so the kids did some archaeologist practice

The rain finally eased and the nice humidity was left for the walk around this temple.

This is Hindu Khmer Empire Temple complex set on the rim of an extinct volcano and was built at a time when Khmer social-political influences were significant in Srisaket. It was built of sandstone and laterite between the 10th and 13th centuries. It was a Hindu shrine dedicated to Shiva, and symbolises Mount Kailash, his heavenly dwelling.

The walk up all the stairs are a great exercise, some were a little slippery, but no accidents today. The walk out was just as interesting, with extra care being taken. Plenty of sweaty hair and sticky shirts after this walk.

We headed back to Buriram to the hotel for some cooling swims. I know 2 kids who are going to sleep well tonight.

So Krao Walking Street

This walking street night market is only on Saturday and Sunday, so we were certainly lucky to be here tonight. Was really long maket with lots of interesting foods

We has skipped lunch so we were very excited to see what we could have for dinner. The rain was looking very threatening so we hoped for picnic at the hotel and got everything for take-away.

Bryce had some grilled pork skewers and sticky rice, whilst Elle had some dumplings, Takoyaki and sweet potato Balls.

Brendan had some Pad Thai and Buriram sausage, and Ning had some steamed bamboo, fried pork and bits from everyone else.

Trying to have some early nights tonight, as expect we will all sleep well after all the walking and steps.
